Could you be any more rude and unhelpful? I mean, honestly?

Both browsers serve their own purpose.

Sorry, I meant that in a joking manner. I'm sorry if you were offended.

PS: out of curiosity, what purpose could IE serve? Big Grin

maxxrox: oh, good. Just keep poking that dog with a sharp stick, even after you've been asked not to. Frown Your little "joke" sort of negates the apology, doesn't it?

The website is the tool, not the browser. If you can get it to work, use whatever browser works.

In my case, my company's IT group has standardized on IE as the preferred browser for all machines, because it's easier to program for a single target. The internal work timecard website only works in IE and not Firefox. Since I like to get paid, I have IE on my machine, although I typically use Firefox.

This is a thread where we're supposed to be helping Nightvol solve a problem. If you don't have anything useful to contribute, can we at least keep the sniping to a minimum?

Kathy, have you checked out IETab? It's an extension that will display a page in Firefox using the IE renderer.

Ok, we got the candidate of hope. Now what?

Thanks for the info, Garrett, but we're not supposed to be installing stuff willy-nilly on the work boxes. Scylla and Charybdis, it is. We're allowed to have Firefox, but IE is official for inhouse stuff.

Nightvol: my new computer is Vista too. I haven't tried much yet, but the forums seem to be working properly here, with Internet Explorer. I'm not sure if that helps...

I've managed to get the forums to a somewhat workable state, but the chatroom is still unusable. See the screenshot in my post on the previous page to see what I mean...

Hmm...I'm working on Vista, Firefox. Have you tried installing the latest Java Enviroment? I had to install it to be able to use all the features since I hadn't entered in a long time.

Or...I may have no idea, so you can just ignore me in that case.

Oh yes, I've installed the latest of both Java and Chime. It's just not working, is the problem ;_;

I'm surprised that this site gives you trouble with Vista. I bought my HP Pavilion DV2000Z and it came on January 9, and since then I've upgraded to Vista. I've never had any Internet issues with my computer. Although sometimes when I'm in a live chat window I can't scroll to the bottom of the conversation so I am looking at five or six lines behind. I am aware where the slider bar is, but it won't go down any farther. That's the only issue I have. I do use FireFox.

I'm guessing it's a my computer thing, so unless I get any breakthroughs, you all don't need to try that hard anymore. Thanks for all of your help, guys. Guess now I'll just have to use the forums to communicate, and not the chat...

you installed a newer version of the java plugin for the browsers right?

did you try installing a new JRE? jave runtime environment?

sometimes i've found that to be a cause of chime problems.
