Naw, Bush isn't a dictator. You can threaten to call him one, but he's not. We're the ones who put him in power, hmmm? Sad, but yeah, a lot of people voted him, making him the president. Not all of us, did, mind, but he's still all of the Americans' president, no matter how much they deny it.
You'd get paid the same for your job? Hardly. Wait, let me back up and see what I can do to back up my side. A dictator, that is, a person with absolute rule, would be unchallenged in their descisions. They'd be above the law. A controlled economy is more like what Z is saying. Only, that decides for you what to produce, how to produce it, etc etc. I don't know if that would fall under the doctor/receptionist example in the way Z is trying to get it across. A plus to a dictatorship is that you don't have to worry about polotics and all of that. A negative is that you have no control over who's the dictator. Actually, no, like what Tui is saying (hehe, only now did I scroll down), Z means communism. Gigo: Hey, it's the person who puts 'asian' in 'caucasian'. Hmmm...I dislike how many people condemn communism as being bad. True, it hasn't always worked out in the past, but it's not all bad (just like capitalism). For example, health care programs in communist states are always really, really good. And there are other benefits. But with the pluses come minuses: no system is perfect.
I had a slight rant today about people who pronounce "nuclear" as "nukyular"--it drives me crazy! And one of my really good friends did it (it all started from a conversation about cockroaches...) and I nearly exploded. And my math teacher says "calcalator" instead of "calculator" and "varable" instead of "variable". We had a field hockey scrimmage today! Yay! I really like field hockey! Happy happy... quote:Waaahh, I want a creative writing class! There are like no options where I am right now...and I'm not sure if it gets much better in high school. Speaking of high school...(I'm in eighth grade now) I'm a little worried about it. This is because my dad is the principal of the high school (I go to a private school). So, knowing people, I'm worried about: -People acting like it's my fault if my dad does something they don't like. -People thinking that I will report them for little things that they do wrong/people thinking that I'm a teacher's pet or a suck-up -Wanting to be away from my parents (my mom is also a Latin teacher in the high school: I don't take Latin, but still...). I may or may not have my dad for biology in 9th grade. My mom knows that I'm worried about this, and she says that all those things (except the last one, I haven't told her about that) may happen. I need advice!! I shouldn't be worrying about this because eighth grade just started, but I can't help it! I doubt that anyone's been in my situation, but what do you think you would do? *Ella* "But the night rolls around, and it all starts making sense There is no right way or wrong way, you just have to live And so I do what I do, and at least I exist; What could mean more than this?" --Bright Eyes |

As a Junior in private HS, my best advice is...
Surround yourself with good friends. If you have set of good friends then a.) people won't want to have to deal with an entire pack of people just to say that they don't like what your dad did. b.) You'll be around people who wouldn't bother you for those reasons. At least at my HS, people are beyond anything other than evenly distributed grumbling when a person does something they don't like. If it does happen, don't sweat it. It'll get old really fast when people catch on that you can't control what your dad does. (Don't encourage them by saying things like "Oh, I'll talk to Dad about it.") ...and that's all I can think of at the moment... It'll be fine. Now just try to survive 8th grade. ~Sharky +Member of the STTF (Save the Topic Foundation) +Secret member of the FBI (Forum Bureau of Investigation) +So what if I'm crazy?! quote: I play field hockey! yay its soo much fun. what position do you play? I'm a halfback/midfield (what ever you want to call it). Can i ask what a 'scrimmage' is - we probs have a different name for it. As for this whole communism thingy, my friends were doing it in History, and i learned all sorts of interesting stuff from them. The whole idea of communisim (based on a little red book) was meant to be applied to a fully developed, first world country, not the developing countries that it has been introed to. Also, it never took into account the stupid 'ideals' of human nature. Oh well i gotta go get ready for work now... *mumblesstupideight'oclockshiftmumbles* I should be around in chat tomorrow morning (my time) cos my shift doesn't start til 10. cyas all later RIP Peter Murray - We'll miss you ||tumbleweed: *bouncing* || 'Alla is the forum scapegoat' ~ TheSharklord || Thongs are comfortable to wear in summer |

Ugh 9th graders are EVIL! EVIL!! Our school is not very new so it's too small for the number of kids in it. (1500-2000 kids) so naturally the halls are very crowded. Behind me and my friend was this one very annoying girl, she kept pushing us, (and in front of us there was a large wall of basketball players. 6 feet tall! Ahhhh there's no way we were able to make THEM move!)
Anyways she kept pushing me and my friend screaming MOVE IT! At the top of her lungs. And we kept crashing into the big guys. Finally annoyed I said "Why?!" And she said, "Because you're in front of my locker kid****." Dude she needs to be patient. after 5th period people move slow in the halls it's not like weren't hurrying also. penguins will rule the world. |

quote:*grins* Thanks. quote:A scrimmage is like a practice game: you play other schools in the preseason. The score doesn't count, and sometimes the games are abbreviated. It's just to get practice playing other teams. What do you call them? *Ella* "But the night rolls around, and it all starts making sense There is no right way or wrong way, you just have to live And so I do what I do, and at least I exist; What could mean more than this?" --Bright Eyes |

ohhh ok. we call them scratch matches, but they can be played any time of the season. I play club sport, so sometimes we play them at training against one of the other teams there, and usually if there is a forfiet (?)... fourfeet ... forfeit (?)
anyways... my feet are killing me. never get a part time job where you are on your feet all day. oh yeah, i have been meaning to ask this for a while. Are any of you guys neopetters and if so can i have your user names? for anyone who wants to know, i am swashbucklergal. cyas tommorow morning in chat if i can make it. I think forfeit it right.
Owww... my legs jurt so bad. I didn't go to karate yesterday because of it. On Tuesday we had to jump around the dojo... But it was a weird jump. I didn't hurt afterwards, but I do now. Meh. I hope I didn't hurt something. I used to play neopets. I'm minicin602. I'd give you neopoints if you wanted any, but I can't do much of anything on it anymore. My virus protection is blocking it. I liked to hoard my neopoints. I have over 400,000 if I remember right. Plus I have two painted pets and a lab map. Gigo: Hey, it's the person who puts 'asian' in 'caucasian'. At last! Someone else who plays (field) hockey... I play forward - ideally right or left. We always call a halfback a "half", possiblt also because halfs form half the team.
We call srimmages/scratch matches "friendlies" (plural of "friendly"). Here, a scratch match is one organised at he last mi nute, and having to scratch around to find a team. A scrimmage sounds like a scrummage gone wrong... (rugby term). What form of Karate do you do Gryphon? I envy you! I love playing sports in the rain, especiallly soccer!!
In field hockey I usually play right wing. We have right wing, right inner, left inner, and left wing on the forward line; right midfield, center midfield and left midfield on the center line, and right defense, center defense, and left defense in the back. And obviously the goalie. It's funny to hear how you guys have different sports terminology...for me a scrimmage doesn't sound weird at all. *Ella* "But the night rolls around, and it all starts making sense There is no right way or wrong way, you just have to live And so I do what I do, and at least I exist; What could mean more than this?" --Bright Eyes |

I rode my bike to school today and it was raining so hard I couldn't get back home! My bike's gonna be rusted tomoroww since I left it at school and got a ride home. *cries* (telaldalin. you live in minnesota too right?) I had so much homework today. And I left my English homework at home. (And I had 3 assignments do today so I'm getting 1/2 the credit for each. Good thing I have an A in english.) I took a math quiz today and I don't think I did very good. I even studied with the teacher before the test! But I still think I did bad...*more crying* I'm very sleepy... penguins will rule the world. |

Meh. I can't beleive that BiW has anywhere near as much work as I do. But I actually don't have that much today.
GRRR. I still hurt. And I feel like I have no energy cuz I've been doing near nothing all day. I can't run around or do karate. Like if I crouch down or even sit down it hurts. It's not my knees though; it's the muscle. GRRR. Diego! Nitafan started a war topic. Plus you can probably post in Waiting for Naeva now. I sent the summary to your e-mail. Rain is evil? Not at all, Z. I love rain. I don't like clouds, though. What are you doing in math? Gigo: Hey, it's the person who puts 'asian' in 'caucasian'. Aw Gryph! I hope you feel better!
I love the rain! And clouds! Some people get depressed by cloudy or raining weather, but I don't, I get depressed by sad music. You know what's really fun? Going onto the AOL teen discussion forums and arguing politics. It's especially fun when people IM me and tell me if I don't like Bush, I should leave the country and call me a stupid liberal. *laugh* *Ella* "But the night rolls around, and it all starts making sense There is no right way or wrong way, you just have to live And so I do what I do, and at least I exist; What could mean more than this?" --Bright Eyes |
